Short Stories, Rants and Observations

What is happening

Reading Time: 3 minutesYou may have noticed that I believe (deliberate use of that word) in the separation of church and state and the state and its judiciary. Those that claim some extremist and divine right to blend all of these things are the greatest threat aside from inaction over global warming, that this world faces. Oh and of course those extreme religious fanatics of all sides and numbers. My goodness what is happening. This post was appropriate when posted in 2013 and sadly remains so.

What I really don’t like are the unknowing conservative extremists. Those who seem to have no idea. No idea on the grandest scale, even if they have the ear and eyes of news outlets such as Fox News and screaming shock jocks.

Go Back

Let’s go way back in time and begin with the Tea Party swayed republican types in America. Witless souls who have a numbed down understanding of modern living, or national and international finance and politics. They also have a blinkered view on pursuing and forcing their own backwoods moral compass and view on life onto the rest of us. no rights or time for those who live outside their narrow and sad homespun existence.

Lots of cocked guns, god and constitution. Pity they don’t actually know that much about the constitution or how it is supposed to apply. I sure as blazes don’t know it all, but I think I get the basic ideals. There still aren’t equal rights for women under the American constitution, even now in 2013.

In Australia we have a conservative federal government. A return to the 1950s in the guise of a conservative coalition. a partnership between big business, those from the bush and some smug socially awkward mung beans who think they know what society needs. They are the folks you see stumbling through normal life with a feeling of superiority and a we deserve to rule mentality.

Their focus

Is very much like the American Koch Brothers who basically started and certainly continue to finance the tea party, is to pander to and support big business. This is to the detriment of the environment, those less fortunate, fringe dwellers, science and the community in general. In fact anything that doesn’t provide a suitable financial end – is on the out.

Queensland has its own brand of crazy behaviour in power. The lnp, another coalition this time with a unique name, has decided to create laws, change the nature of common law and drag us back to the devilishly dangerous nazi party’s 25 point party program in 1920. Remember that you don’t need to worry, it’s not affecting you – as you aren’t a bikie, pedophile or sex offender. Again, I’m not promoting, or on the side of such activities, but society can’t let the law be brutalised in such a way.

Suddenly an organisation, location is deemed criminal and draconian new laws apply. Or in the case of sex offenders, the government (the attorney-general and his angry little general leader), will decide when and/or if you stay in jail. If you are an omg member you can’t ride in more than a group of three and can be pulled over and searched for no reason, no reason at all other than being a member of a suddenly decreed criminal organisation. two club members were recently arrested for being at their clubhouse, a criminal location. Now how can a building be a criminal location.

#Murdochgutterpress

There are many news articles which highlight, far better than I can, just what has wound my ever-expanding elastic waist band so excruciatingly tight. Get some clear thinking, relevant, honest, well adjusted and experienced buggers into office. Suggesting we need more normal people, like a plumber or a numb nutted motoring enthusiast in power is sheer lunacy.

If they have some qualities and a reasonable education – sure, but dragging their knuckles about and pulling their friends pants around their ankles, is not a sign of a complete education or an understanding of modern life. nor in the case of Queensland’s attorney-general, who was only a real estate sales conveyancing solicitor in a very small regional office, who is now suddenly the highest legal official in the state, i.e Attorney General.

So, what do I do, aside from return to ranting here at tbaoo, now www.alancrawford.com.au – Well I vote, but sadly my wish has been outnumbered in three recent elections. Things might change the next time we’re given the honour to vote. At least like many others I can say with pride – don’t blame me, I didn’t vote for Tom Tate (Gold Coast Mayor), Campbell Newman (Queensland Premier) or Tony Abbott (Prime Minister).

If you did, it’s all your fault.

Very well put! It seems that the more the world advances, the more backwards some politicians think and try to foist it on the public under the guise of knowing what the citizens want/need.

I enjoyed your rant 🙂
